A Class?
Yeah, a classes is what your character does. I used to think it was called a
skill (easier to understand), but that's not important. The classes that you
can select from is Infantryman, Combat Engineer, Field Medic, Jump Trooper,
Heavy Weapons, Infiltrator, and Squad Leader. The names are usually
abbreviated to inf, engy, med, JT, hvy/HW, commie, and SL.
What's The Significance of a Class?
Each class has different jobs. I'll go over each of them. You can find
sketches of them on Sony's website, but they don't have anything to do with
the actual character.
Infantryman A lot of people say that
this is the best class for killing others. In fact it is. They can use most
of the weapons and they have the best kind of armor (Carapace) than any
other class can have. Of course, they can't use the mortars or the fire
support weapons (Heavy Weapons). The Infantryman can move fairly fast with
650kj energy and can carry up to 45kg without being overweight. Their most
common weapons are Incinerator, Assault Shotgun, and Assault Rifle.
Combat Engineer Some people say that
these are the backbone of the team. I don't really think so because I'd
rather have a medic on my team. Anyway, the engineer is the only class that
can built turrets. Turrets are these automated guns that shoot enemy. You'll
find most of your team's turrets inside or around your base. They can built
turrets that shoot plasma, machine gun shots, and rockets. They can deploy a
sentry that they buy at the store. A sentry basically anti-warps an enemy
and shoots harmless red beams to alert you that an enemy is nearby. The
engineer has to collect minerals called Titanium Oxide to build turrets.
Most people call Titanium Oxide tox or titox.
Field Medic My favorite class, but I
wouldn't like to be one. Having a medic on your team will save you from a
lot of deaths. What a medic can do is summon and heal people. Having
somebody summon you is like you're teleporting to them, but you don't use
any of your energy. Being healed increases the amount of hit points (hp) you
have. Usually, one heal restores 20hp, but if a medic uses a deluxe medkit,
they can restore 50hp in one heal. Normal heal uses one tsolvy crystal but
deluxe heal uses five tsolvy crystals. See the difference? Medics don't
really need weapons, but some would use a sub-machine gun, a needler, and/or
a stunner.
Jump Trooper I was told that back
then, this was the only class that can use vehicles. Now, almost all classes
can use a vehicle. Only Heavy Weapons and Infiltrators can't. Most likely,
you'll find a JT in a drop pack. Drop packs are great because it comes with
a Drop Pack Blaster. It shoots two shots of plasma per round. The shot comes
out in two columns so it's a total of four bolts per round. Back then, you
could shoot all you want until you run out of energy (DPB uses energy).
Then, the moderators decided it was too much and limited it to five shots
per round. It was still great... then it was lowered to three, and now two.
The JT moves really fast on a drop pack and they're most like seen on a drop
pack using a DPB, Assault Rifle, and/or Grenade Launcher. They can use the
second best armor which is the Drop Armor.
Heavy Weapons This is the class that I
use most. This class of people can use the biggest and best weapons. They
shoot things like rockets, heavy HEs, RR canisters, machine guns, and AC
shots. They can use a lot more than these weapons, but some of their guns
are really good. They can carry a lot of weight without being overweight,
but they're the slowest moving class. As a heavy, I usually get killed by an
infiltrator. Infiltrators are the fastest moving class and just one is all
it takes to kill a heavy with full energy and hp. My heavy character carries
an Auto Cannon and Light Machine Gun. You'll find heavies with an Auto
Cannon, Plasma Cannon, Gauss Cannon, SC (some kind of cannon), Recoilless
Rifle, RPG, Micro Missile Launcher, and maybe a few other weapons I left
out. They might carry one of these heavy weapons with a machine gun or light
machine gun like me.
Infiltrator My friends say in'fil•tra•tor
(putting the stress on the "in"), all because one person started calling
them this. The proper way to say it is the way that I started calling them:
in•fil'tra•tor (stress on "fil"). Anyway, this is the class of people who
gets the most flags. They are the only class that can cloak (become
invisible) and run extremely fast. They were made to steal flags from an
enemy base. Unfortunately, they can only use energy weapons and they don't
have much of an armor. They are most like found with a Plasma Rifle, Pulse
Rifle, Plasma Bomb, or Plasma Sub-Machine Gun.
Squad Leader This is the newest class
and regretfully not the best class. They are made to summon people to attack
at an enemy's base. They are equipped with a different kind of summoner and
teleporter that uses less energy than normal teleport or summon. They don't
have the best weapons, but the like to use an incinerator. Their armor is
most likely CMP6 Combat Armor. I was told that they can summon faster than a
medic, but I don't know. Another thing I like about this class is that they
can use a Teleport Disrupt (like a medic) to anti-warp an enemy.
